Which type is best? Does it matter?
For the cot we will have to choose from Ikea’s selection as I guess it will be the snuggest fitting one (if the cots are anything like the beds!).
I assume you also need mattresses in a crib/moses basket?
Sorry, I’m full of questions! Trying to get a bit of a budget together, but I’m so clueless it’s hard!

Ikea cots are just continental sized so you can get them most places. I've had one from Mothercare and Toys r Us for ours. www.babymattressesonline.co.uk are good and reasonably priced

I think I got our current one from online4baby actually as they were the cheapest
i'd get a sprung one for cot, foam is fine for crib and moses basket

Oh thanks! I just assumed because they have to fit well that I’d have to stick with them!
Which type do you have?

Sorry, I didn’t see your other post! Don’t know why! Thanks.
I’ve just looked on the website, dear god, I thought I was clueless before!! Soo many choices!!

We have an ikea cot and the mattress was from boots. It was a sprung one I think but a really good price, it's a cot bed so I was happy to have it a bit thicker.
For carrycot/Moses basket/crib is just get a foam one.

This is handy; I'm choosing matressea at the moment too!

Generally foam is fine for short term use, should be replaced annually. We therefore had foam in the crib, carrycot but spung in the cotbed.
We got ours from babiesRus with the cotbed in a bundle so I knew it'd fit well.

Agree with LM foam for crib/Moses and springs for cot/cot bed
We got the crib and mattress from Mothercare £85 all in and cotbed and mattress from John Lewis £220 all in ( we had vouchers left from wedding for John Lewis )

Weve recently bought our mattress from mamas and papas, pocket sprung and on offer for £89! Bargain.

I've got ours from ebay, there is a manufacturer that sells direct (forget who) so they are half the price or cheaper of in mothercare or wherever.

We got our cotbed mattress from ebay too. Its sprung/foam with washable covers etc and was under £40. Seems comfy enough for her still at 2yrs :-)

L's cot is from Ikea (www.ikea.com/.../00115751) and I also got the mattress from there (www.ikea.com/.../40214315) - it fits well on the sides but is a couple of cm too short in length. She will be going into a cotbed in her own room soon - needs the extra space for rolling around in!
