    PM
    Good morning,

I'm after some guidance so any advice you can provide me will be greatly received. My husband and I are trying for a baby. I came off the pill in February, and my first period was came exactly as planned. Over time, as you would expect I suppose, there has been a change to my cycle, which is now roughly at the 30-31 days mark.

I say roughly because despite precise planning until June, my husband then had a big operation which put everything on the back burner and because he was unwell I actually can't trace my cycles for June or July, what with so much going on. I do know however that I did have periods because there is no way I would have overlooked a no show!

Anyway, in August I suddenly though ???????oh, my period must be due??????? and with a rough sort of idea I figured I should be due on the 12th of August and sure enough on the 13th I came on. I only spotted for the first two days which has seemingly become my new pattern anyway, but a normal period nonetheless. Now, based on a 30 day cycle I would have been due on Saturday the 11th and a 31 day cycle would put me due on Sunday the 12th of September. And needless to say I haven't come on yet.

I have taken two pregnancy tests - one I took last Thursday (before my period was due) as I was hoping I was pregnant, though this was negative. So I was fully expecting to get my period at the weekend. Well nothing happened and so I took another test yesterday morning (Tuesday the 14th of September) and again a negative (it may be worth indicating at this point that it was one box with two tests in it - I have been told in the past not to buy tests like this as if one is a dud they will both likely be!).

I have been getting aches in my stomach, which may well be the onset of my period, though this seems to be going on for quite a while now (I have very mild periods, only getting mild cramping the night before I am due and with cold, shivery feelings) . I am also very tired (though I have undertaken a long haul flight in the past week which may be the culprit of this particular ???????symptom???????). At the end of last week I was ravenously hungry, to the point of sickness and lightheadness, whereas this week I just feel mildly queasy and have slight indigestion. I also feel cold and shivery, particularly towards the evening time when my tiredness peaks.

Basically, and I am sure you knew it was coming to this in my very long winded manner - do you think I may be pregnant?! Is there anyone reading this who has had negative tests only to then find out that they are pregnant? I'm pretty sure I am just clutching at straws.....

    Thanks in advance.

    xx

    Hi Willow23

Well my symptoms were and still are sore breats, very tired especially in the evening and cold all the time even though im normally too hot!

What kind of tests did you use? Sometimes the clear blue digitals are not very sensitive. I got a negative result 4 weeks after my last period but 1 week later i took another test as I had very sore breasts and it was positive!! I might add that my periods were not 28 days (anything from 35 to 45 days) and that maybe i ovulated later and thats why I didnt get positive first time.

Kind of rambling on here but basically I would leave it till maybe Friday and do another test remember to use first morning wee and see how you get on from there. Not wanting to disappoint but I had regular cycles until this year then they started to go haywire and was 7 weeks at longest.

    Hiya,

Thanks for responding. I used a Superdrug own brand. The one I did last Thursday was sort of spur of the moment at 11:15am so it wasn't the first wee of the day. However, the one I did on Tuesday this week was.

You haven't disappointed me at all, I'm just greatful for some advice. I wish one thing or the other would happen so at least I know where I am. I'd love to be pregnant, but if I'm not I want my period now! I bought a clear blue fertility monitor Thursday night after the negative test so I was holding out for my period to use that!! But nothing, and no BFP either.

I'll wait util friday as you said and then go from there.

    Thanks so much

    Hi

I know how you feel and its not nice! I've got two children and my cycles range from 25-28 days but with both of mine i had BFN's on day 29/30. I ddin't get a BFP till day 32 so that's 4-7 days after AF was due.

I would suggest waiting till Friday and if AF hasn't arrrived do another test. Good luck! I really hope its just a late BFP xxx

My periods are always like clock work and I have a 31 day cycle. I knew I was pregnant as was having the same symptoms I had with my first and still got 5 negative tests. It was 5 days late before I got my bfp and now I'm happily 15 weeks preggers! I hope its the same for you and you get your bfp!
If not tho it does take approx 6 months for the effects of the pill to get out of your system depending on how long you have taken it for so don't lose heart xxxx

    Thanks for your replies girls.

I am driving myself insane. I am hopeful, though if its not to be then thats fine too. I can start again next month. I just wish I knew where I was going.

I'm going to wait until the weekend and if nothing happens then I'll test again, with a different brand just to cover all bases.

    Thanks again.

I found the asda own brands very good - gave a really good line when I did get my bfp. Might be worth a try, and they're cheap as well. I dont like Tesco ones though; I found out I was pregnant at 8 weeks with my first and despite being so far gone I only got a very faint line on a tesco test. Clear blue (non digital) are good as well, but much more expensive.

Good luck for testing though hon, fingers are crossed very tightly for you xxx
