We've just published a news story today, in which a natural birth coach has called for the TV show One Born Every Minute to be banned – because she thinks the picture it presents of labour and birth is 'terrifying women' and making them scared to give birth.
So we thought we'd ask you what you think!
Do you watch OBEM? And if so, do you find it terrifying? Or uplifting? Or something else?
And, even if you don't watch it, do you think it's a good idea or not to show real women giving birth on TV?
Please do let us know by adding a post to this thread. We'd love to hear what you think!

One born every min should not be banned if you don't like it don't watch it , labour is scary and painful so its not gonna make a different if it get banned or not still gonna hurt and ur still gonna be scared , supose its like watchin a horror movie if it scares you dont watch it

I think it gives a realistic view of what labour can be like but also shows the end result and how moving that moment your baby is placed on your chest. Like pp if you don't like it don't watch it but I think your own unknown image of labour can be far scarier than OBEM! I watched the first series just before I was due with my first and it made me excited to have that special moment meeting my baby. If you think labour is going to be easy then it's probably a good thing to have those rose tinted glasses removed so you can mentally prepare for the hard part that ends in that 'so worth it' moment!

OBEM Hekped me and my sister in our pregnancys as we was looking forward to it alot more !! Yes it's scary watching it but we all watch it because we are thinking or having a baby out selfs ... I think this programme is fantastic and shouldn't be banned at all. Gave me fantastic ideas and good techniques to help me give birth x

I don't think it should be banned at all! That seems very over the top. I loved watching it when I was pregnant, if anything it made me feel more relaxed about giving birth. It highlights how unpredictable childbirth is - sometimes it goes well and as planned but more often it doesn't and that's okay! It's no secret that childbirth is very painful and difficult but we all know it's worth it in the end.
I haven't watched it since I gave birth but that's just because I haven't found the time. I will watch loads again when we are having our second baby! As the others have said, if people don't want to watch it then they shouldn't :)

I did watch OBEM when I was pregnant. I don't think it scares women. For me - it was a good thing to watch, as you see how labour can be and what happens in certain situations. It is good to have a bit of knowledge before you give birth. I found it quite informative. My partner did, too. It is something that happens naturally, it should not be a taboo.

I was told by my partner and mum not to watch it because it'll scare me...and the very first programme I did see one of the babies didn't make it, but it didn't scare me, if anything its a realistic view of what can happen. Not everything goes according to plan and i've learnt that. Also I never knew you could have a water birth until watching that show and if I can then that's what I'd like to have. As the other ladies said, if you're that bothered by it there's other programmes on tv

It's my favourite programme I love it. mum pregnant with my first child and it hasn't scared me at all. It's a practical programme that's honest, realistic and doesn't hide anything. It shows how different every birth is and how differently people cope with labour. If your screamish don't bloody watch it your not forced into watching it, it's there for people that want to be informed about labour and birth! We've all got to used to everyday life being airbrushed and completely unrealistic! I will be fuming if it gets banned, too many people love the programme.

Surely it can't be that bad.........we're now on series 8!
As a reality tv show, I laugh at the antics of new dads, and how they cope in the labour ward; I respect the midwives and their ability to help and support women through a tough time; and I praise the women who have gone on national tv to deliver a baby in all its undignified glory!! Well done! I have just had my 4th child and although it is a beautiful miracle, I certainly didn't look beautiful in the process! I love watching OBEM as EVERYONE is different, and copes differently with the whole process. It gives you an insight into what to expect, which can't really be given from parent education classes, or leaflets prior to birth. Yes it can be scary, and yes I must admit I do have a chuckle at the way some woman cope with the process, but unless you have actually gone through labour, you don't know how you are going to react. We are strong, resilient woman and we have the wonderful privilege of delivering a beautiful baby. Why shouldn't it be broadcast?
At least it's it as bad as bad as the American version where mums, dads, brothers, sisters, friends......everyone and their granny it seems are in the room during labour..........at least you can't see everyone watching you through the tv screen for OBEM, Again, kudos to the women (and their partners) for taking part.

I havnt had children yet and i watch obem all the time. I think it prepares you for what can happen and shows you those miracle moments of what you will have at the end of it. It hasnt put me off having children myself i cant wait to be a mum. Yes it may put some people off, but it can also make some people want children more, it depends on the person.

I don't think it should be banned at all! I watched it all the time when I was pregnant & before, It never scared me it just shows you how realistic it is. Surely everyone knows that labour isn't easy and is very painful! Every labour is different just because you see a woman have a difficult birth on the tv does not mean yours is going to be exactly the same.

I don't think it should be banned, think I've watched one episode since becoming pregnant but I rhink it doesn't show enough! Most of the births seems quite straight forward. They don't show a lot of pain relief or if a lady tears etc I would like it to be even more realistic to prepare women more!
Mid you don't like it, watch something else? Simples
