Long time since I have posted on here. Hope everyone is ok?! I bet nobody will remember me it has been that long?
I have a quick question if I may. Sorry for the long post... please to run.
We started to try and potty train Ava yesterday as she has been showing the signs that she is ready for a while.
Yesterday we had a few wee's on the toilet (none on the potty so far) and a few wet knickers. Was really pleased and quite positive yesterday.
Today however it really doesn't seem to be going very well.
Ava has had 7 wet pairs of knickers and has wee'd on the toilet 3 times. She had a nappy on for her nap and wet that. She has currently gone down for a nap with a nappy on.
My question is... how many pairs of knickers/pants did you go through in your first days of potty training?
I don't know if the number of knicks we have gone through is a sign that she is not ready?
I keep asking her if she needs the toilet. Sometimes she says no, but a few times she has said yes and come with me to the loo and then wee'd.
Most of the times she has wet she seems to recognise that she has wee'd, but it is really frustrating because literally a couple of minutes before she was sat on the toilet and didn't wee.
She is also trying to get off the toilet and the last few times has started to throw wobblers.... am I better off calling it a day and trying again in a few months? I don't want her getting distressed if it's the wrong time... but I don't want to give in if this is normal and something that will pass??!
Any advice would be much appreciated. First attempt with first toddler!

If you can bear to continue, then give it a couple more days, but I'm not sure I would with that many accidents.
C was 2y7m when he PTed, and had only one accident the first day, and only a handful during that first week - mainly on his days at nursery where he was probably pre-occupied and didn't have me asking him if he needed to wee every 10 minutes!
He went straight on the toilet from day one, and never used the potty so no need to worry about that if that's what she prefers.

Thanks for replying deedee. I am going to try and keep going as long as I can. She is down for a nap which has given me a break. and her!
I think that the potty is going to be a no-no. She doesn't seem interested in it.
If only these toddlers came with a light that lit up when they were 100% ready and a button you could press to make them PT'ed!

We started yesterday and had no accidents on day 1 and one today. To be totally honest I'd be leaving it if I was you. She's still really young

With that many accidents I'd call it a day.
A was 22 months and had no accidents in the first few days, then a few a nursery. I'm sure in the first 2 weeks she had 5 accidents total.
L was older, 2 yrs 2 months I think and had maybe 5 accidents in the first week.
Both mine went straight to the toilet rather than potty
We started off by sitting on the toilet while the bath was running at night a d they gradually started asking to use the toilet more often themselves x

Exactly what they said. She is very young and with that amount of wet pants I would say not ready.
I started B at 3y and 2m..no accidents at all except one which was my fault as I wasn't listening :/
