Sorry to hear you're going through this. You're right though not to give up hope yet... One scan / test is not enough to know for sure as like you say...your dates could be out. It's good they have you booked in for a scan next week... If things are ok they should see some growth by then.
did they do a beta hcg blood test today? That is a good way to see if the pregnancy is going well or not. If they do a hcg test & then compare your numbers next week that indicates what's going on. Increase being good, decrease being not good.
i had a similar experience but sadly not a good outcome... I was 8w 6d when a scan showed that the baby had no heart beat... They did a blood hcg test which was at 15,000... 2days later it was at 13,000... The following week it was 3,000... i had another scan... the embrionic sac had continued to grow (due to my body still having hormones) but the baby was the same size & no heartbeat. At 10.5 weeks I chose to have medication to induce contractions as there was no sign that my body was starting the process.
I have though heard stories from ladies saying the exact opposite... That they were even told by doctors that the pregnancy was not viable and had bleeding etc but then went bk a week later & saw a heartbeat & all was well.
I think at this stage for you, you have to STAY POSITIVE... Try to relax, keep your mind busy on other things if you can & I truely hope all will be ok for you.
if you need to talk, keep posting.... Whatever you need there are lots of lovely people on here who are here to support you.

Didnt want to read and run, sorry to hear what your going through, i had this twice last year but sadly didnt have a good out come with either.
Stay positive as there are loads of ladies that turn out to have a healthy pregnancy after a scan like this, some time dates of ovulation can get a bit mixed up for me tho i was using ovulation tests so i knew my dates xx

Yes Jilly DEFINITELY keep taking your vitamins!... If baby is ok you will need them... If sadly things are not ok i would still carry on taking them... They wont hurt & then if you did decide you wanted to try again straight away your body will be nicely prepped.
yeah i would call your doc... Explain the situation & ask them if they would do a beta hcg test this week & next week... Its just a blood test but would add weight to whatever the conclusion is next week after your scan... it will put your mind at rest that it is theright diagnosis either way.
Keeping everything crossed for you... keep us posted x

Hi, I didn't want to read and run but I had the same and it wasn't a positive outcome I'm afraid. Did they take bloods? A heartbeat can be seen on an internal scan from around 5 and a half weeks and almost always by 6 weeks, could your dates be out by that much? Really hoping for a positive outcome for you. A positive pregnancy test means very little, HCG hangs around in your system for up to six weeks after a miscarriage. Have you had any spotting or anything?
