My daughter is starting to get into imaginative play & jumps animals around the house. My mum is buying her larger role play items like a shop or kitchen with play food for christmas but I'd like to get some little figures. I was looking into happyland & it seems quite expensive. Or I might get her a doll house but I want to get her a wooden 1 rather than a plastic 1 so thinking I might wait till next year to do that. I loved the fisher price stuff as a kid but don't know if you can get hold of it now. Would love to hear what you 2+ children are playing with & where might be a good place to get it from. Thanks

Jude liked happy land and wow toys. What about playmobil 123? He has normal playmobil now but still uses the 123 stuff we have a zoo and farm

I hadn't thought about the playmobile toys. I'll have a look now, thanks Isis

You get Fisher Price Little People which are a bit like Happyland, is that the FP ones you mean?
My 2 and 4 year old still like playing with Happyland. I only ever bought it when it was 50% off though, they normally have sets reduced in the lead up to Christmas - I'd never pay full price (but then I rarely pay full price for any toys ;-)) Might be worth a look on Gumtree to see if anyone near you selling any sets if you don't mind second hand stuff

P loves her Happyland, it's often on offer so i just pick bits up when it it.

I buy a lot of toys second hand. I've set up searches for all 3 & hopefully something will come up locally then I can make up my mind as I'm not sure which set I'd prefer.
Thanks ladies for your input

What about duplo? The possibilities are endless and you can keep adding to it. We've got shed loads of the stuff but thats ok because it gets used on a daily basis to make farms, houses, octopods (my husband was feeling particularly brave one day!), rockets, castles etc. You can get the good basic bricks boxes then supplement it with things like the farm or zoo set to get more figures. We've got fire stations, trains, zoos, rabbits, cupcakes, cinderella, little mermaid amd we're in the market for a pirate ship!!!

I'd forgotten about Duplo.
I wrote this thread thinking lots of people would sway me in 1 direction but I've now got more options then I started with!! Will see what I can find

Happy land is often on offer and regularly on 2nd hand toy facebook pages etc. I'd never pay more than 50% of the full price as to me that's what it's actually worth. The little figures are great and S loves them already, but things like the castle etc. have pathetic doors that are always falling off. We've the castle, treehouse, zoo and funfair, the latter 2 of the better in my opinion and the fairground has rides that move and play music, but the characters don't seem to fit in them properly. We bought our niece the boot which looked good.

Isaac loves happy land, particularly the farm. He's getting the pirate ship for Xmas which I won on a mums lucky dip fb site for £1.50 which was a fantastic saving as usually £30 odd
There's usually lots of HL offers or second hand, I got the police station for £5 on the selling page too

Happy land is popular here too. I got the fairy boot at less than half price through a second hand local Facebook page. We used some birthday money E had to get some more animal figures that she loves.
Duplo is brilliant too. We've only got a small box so far, but planning to ask for it as Xmas presents.
I've also seen some fab upcycled dolls houses on google - they've been made from old chests of drawers. I think I might do E one for next Xmas. (I'm doing her an upcycled play kitchen for this Xmas out of an old bit of furniture we already have).

Thanks, I've seen a few bits of happyland on the sites I look on but wasn't sure if that's what I wanted. Funnily enough there's not any going at the moment but I think I'm probably leaning towards that & duplo & can mention it to the inlaws (who'll probably get me something completely different & babyish). Think I'll look for a dolls house for next year, then I've got all year to look out for a bargain!
