Trying to conceive

I don't really post on here, as we are not going to TTC until the New Year (for various reasons, mainly so I can enjoy Christmas etc without feeling guilty about doing the right 'thing')
However, I would like to lose a few pounds before TTC (and just so my jeans aren't quite as tight!) and I would like to give the 5:2 diet a go, as I think it would work quite well with my lifestyle.
There have been a few mentions that the 5:2 diet can affect fertility and I just wondered if any MDers had done it before TTC or had any thoughts on it at all?

I did a quick Google and found on the Fast Diet website - thefastdiet.co.uk/.../52-is-bad-for-female-health - basically says that it doesn't affect fertility. There are also other results from searches says that it improves fertility. I would've thought any loss in weight is more a benefit to your fertility, and fasting is common in a few cultures/religions and they're still able to procreate (I know the last bit is a sweeping statement!).

Hi, I have the 5:2 book and it does state in their their FAQ at the back that if you are TTC or pregnant they advise against following the diet.

Thanks for your replies. I think I'll give it a go until we start TTC in the new year, and then stop.

I didnt realise they advised against it in the book. I have stopped it now, because I dont want anything to affect my fertility! thanks Dolly P x
