Well, 2012 was already promising to be an exciting year for BabyStyle Oyster fans with news of the convertible Oyster Max buggy, but now things are hotting up even further with the Oyster Gem!
The Oyster Gem is a fair way off being spotted on a street near you, but rumour has it late 2012 could be when it rolls out.
The Gem will be a 3-wheeler buggy that boasts a reversible set. It’ll have that extendable Oyster hood and as you can see from the early bird images below, it looks set to offer a real pop of colour.
We’ve been told the Gem will be able to fold with the seat unit attached, and while the seat is reclinable, it is only suitable from 6 months and up. However, there’ll be a carrycot for use from birth and the option to convert the Gem into a travel system. We’ve heard there may even be the option of a “bucket” seat for use from 2 years to 4 years.
In terms of price, we’ve been told the Gem might be around the £200 mark for the buggy, around £100 for the carrycot and £25 for the second “bucket” seat – that’s £325 to take you from birth to 4, which is reasonably purse-friendly in the current buggy market.
We don’t know any further details just yet, but we’re dying to know how it pushes, steers and rides, as well as how easy it is to fold and unfold. We’ll be sure to put these to the test as soon as we get our hands on a model, so stay tuned…
