Britain’s oldest mum gives birth
Elizabeth Adeney who fell pregnant at the age of 66 has given birth
A 66-year-old has given birth to a health baby boy and is said to be doing “extremely well”.
Britain’s oldest new mum, Elizabeth Adeney, has welcomed the 5lb 3oz arrival who was delivered by caesarean section.
The baby, who was conceived by IVF treatment, has sparked controversy with some groups claiming Adeney is too old to give birth. By the time the child is ten she will be nearing her 80th birthday.
Mrs Adeney was forced to travel to the Ukraine to receive treatment as in the UK, clinics will only allow women aged 50 or under to have IVF.
Divorcee Elizabeth has defended her decision, saying: “It's not physical age that is important - it's how I feel inside. Some days I feel 39. Others, I feel 56.”
