Coronation Street actress Samia Smith, who plays the part of Maria Connor in the popular soap, has revealed she is pregnant.
In a strange twist, the 26-year-old’s Corrie character is currently pregnant on screen, and Maria is looking forward to removing the fake baby bump she has to wear. Due in October, this is Samia and her husband Matt Smith’s first child.
Sadly, the soap star’s dad passed away just a few weeks ago but she revealed that she had told him the happy news before he died. "I am so pleased that we were able to tell my dad,” the Manchester actress said.
She added that she would be pleased to get rid of the fake bump worn when her on-screen character was pregnant, and replace it with “a real one”.
It seems there is something in the water on the famous street – currently nine other Corrie stars have recently had a child or are pregnant.
