No hurry for a royal heir, says Sophie Winkleman

Royal bride-to-be in no rush for children

Talking to Tatler magazine, Sophie, 29, who will marry her real life prince, Lord Freddie Windsor, 30, this weekend, has revealed that she’s dreaming of being the oldest mum in the world.

Rebelling against traditional ‘duties’ of providing the royal family with an heir, Sophie isn’t in any rush to join the royal mums club. “We’re not going to have any for years. I’m going to be Britain’s oldest mother – the current one is 66,” she told the society magazine.

This may not please the future in-laws Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, who could well be expecting a baby Windsor soon after the nuptials, as tradition expects!

The reasons behind Sophie and Freddie’s decision to take parenthood in their stride is because she simply isn’t ready. “I can’t even look after my Oyster card. Let alone a child,” she revealed.

Sophie Winkleman, a former actress, and Freddie Windsor will marry at Hampton Court in The Chapel Royal. It’s set to be the society wedding of the year, with Prince William, Prince Harry, Princesses Beatrice and Princess Eugenie on the guest list.
