What’s a baby sprinkle?

Would you have a 'baby sprinkle' event? Maybe you already did without realising...

Most of you have probably had, been to or even organised a baby shower – but have you even heard of a baby sprinkle?

In case you haven’t – it’s the term given to the get-together people have for someone who’s pregnant with their 2nd baby, or perhaps even 3rd (or 4th, or 5th…)

It’s a low-key event compared to a baby shower, but based on the same principle: a time to celebrate the arrival-to-be and spend some time with the new mum before she’s too busy to see anyone for a while ?

You might have gifts at a baby sprinkle, but as the basics are usually covered at the 1st shower, it’s not so much about big gifts but smaller things – and about spending informal time with friends.

Now, we have to say, we quite like this idea: anyone who’s had more than one baby might well agree that there tends to be way less of a fanfare and fuss than with the 1st.

So if you fancy it, and your mates are up for it, why not?

What do you think?

Did you have a baby sprinkle with your 2nd child, and did you know that’s what it was called? Or do you think every pregnancy deserves a baby shower equal to the first?

Maybe you didn’t do anything like this at all? Tell us in the comments below or over on Facebook.
