I feel physically sick, we have a letter from the DWP in regards to PIP (what was DLA) for my husband. We will find out if he will get any of the care component and or mobility component and at what level. It only has taken since August 2013 so over a year now. My H has Beckers Muscular Dystrophy is a muscle wasting condition which affects my husbands mobility, ability to climb stairs, causes difficulty getting from sitting to standing and makes you prone to falling, it has also caused heart failure and has affected his respiratory muscles so he has supported ventilation at night.
First face to face assessment H went to and CAPITA cancelled without informing us. He travelled from Smethwick to Stoke with a friend for it back in April We then had an assessment at home a week later. CAPITA lost the report and so we had to have another face to face assessment in Birmingham in August. All very stressful, I just hope he gets it at the right level and we don't have to ask for a reconsideration and then go to tribunal.
My H should have applied for DLA many years ago but was kind in denial the heart failure and being in hospital for 8 days followed by being home 6 days and back in hospital for 18 days due to the heart failure made him realise he should apply.
UPDATE: Still no decision DWP just a letter saying they now have all the reports and they would be making a decision shortly and apologising for the delay. For goodness sake they have phoned H up twice, confirming stay's in hospital and bank details and saying they were posting out the decision. GRRR GRRR worrying over nothing.
Also we had written a complaint letter to CAPITA and they replied they would investigate and respond within 20 days which they haven't. We are going to allow the Muscular Dystrophy charity act on our behalf and take this up with CAPITA and the DWP. If by some miracle H is awarded PIP it is madness to re-access him it is a progressive condition which will only get worse and is life limiting it isn't relapsing and remitting it isn't going to go away. These assessments redone at regular intervals are going to be an utter waste of money. Comman sence needs to be used as to when there is little or no chance of a condition improving and then a life time award should be made.

When will you find out? Fingers crossed for you!

We have the letter, when H gets back we will get the answer. Apart from the process being incredibly stressful it has been a difficult year.
