I'm making a stew to go in the slow cooker tomorrow and want to add some red wine. O will be eating it too. Is it ok for her to eat or will the alcohol not burn off in the slow cooker?

Hmm not sure, when I have added wine to slow cooked recipes it has never noticeably tasted of alcohol but that's not to say it isn't there. Hopefully someone will know!

I always used to add it and like you said, never noticed an alcoholic taste, just haven't added it since O has been eating it too. Perhaps I'll just drink the wine instead.

It doesn't because it can't escape, whereas normally it would evaporate off instead it condenses on the lid and is reabsorbed. That's why you don't as much liquid when using a slow cooker. Glug it instead
