As eldest SD is back living with us we need to find a bed solution. Currently they are sharing / kipping on the floor.
K's bed is a lovely day bed from Ikea, metal frame. The plan was to get this to go underneath but it's out of stock http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/40161835/I've been looking at other trundles / underbeds but none will work with existing bed so we will have to buy new.
We're not keen on a trundle where they have legs as they tend to wobble / break over time. So looked into a small double but floor space wouldn't be enough for them to move about. Other option is bunk beds but the only place we could have them would be over the window.
What can we do?

could you email ikea see when they are getting it in stiock?

Is it totally blocked out?

Twink it's not in any local stores or avaiable online and they can't say when it's coming back in stock.
Fi, pretty much yeah. YOu'd get light cos it's a big window but the whole frames / bed would be across it.

Will it be solid bunk beds or the metal ones? I don't know what other option you would have chick.
What about a decent sofa bed that they could share? x

Metal as the frames are smaller for more light. God this is ridiculous. K's gorgeous new bedroom being messed up.
Sofabed is an option I guess but they wouldn't oput it away every morning and then storing of covers etc....we just don't have the space.
Cupboard under the stairs?!

Sofa bed would be a pain really.
Lol, maybe, What about a loft conversion, is that possible? Caravan in the driveway.
I am thinking through options here for you and struggling.

I've already joked with H we need a caravan - no room on the drive though, got 3 cars there already! Would have to go in the garden.
Neen has suggested a 3/4 bed, waiting for link. It's that or just have a mattress under the bed!

have emailed you some options, the wooden one like Lauren's means you don't have to make up the bed daily, just remove the duvet and put away. plus there is storage space undeath it

They do it in white too which is good. I've emailed H about them both so we can measure tonight. loody kids are so damned expensive!

My step kids have bunk beds. The only place for them in their room, was infront of the window, as it's a box room.
They don't block that much light out, as the windows are quite big.

What about stackable beds? I saw them in y
Friend's Danish magazine at the weekend, I can't remember what it is called - might be worth a google?
23/04/2013 at 13:58
I think we're going to have to go with something like this (thanks CW!) it will save a storage problem too. Just need to measure it up

Thats nice Belle. What is the story with G coming back anyway? Is she ok?
23/04/2013 at 14:19
We'd go for white as that is what colour the wardrobe is.
Yeah she's fine, she's better than she was a few years back actually. What I mean by that is her as a person - she's grown up a lot. She's seen stuff and knows stuff no child should ever see but I think it's taken that to make her realise how actually these things aren't the norm an her mother is a total fc uk up. She's matured. Long and short of it was her mum took the husband back. After he beat her up infront of the kids, got an injunction against him, social services involved for ages.....she was out slagging it up for a while but she was semi normal but she's taken him and as soon as he came back the controlling begun. He'd locked her in her room, removed her mobile and keys, refused to let her attend school for GCSE revision clasess.....totally messed up.

Oh dear poor little thing. Is the brother there still? Do you mean the husband beat G or her mum up?
23/04/2013 at 14:37
God her mum, if he'd laid a finger on G he wouldn't be breathing now, H wold have killed him and that aint a lie.
Yeah the brother is still there - not much we can do about him sadly. It's his mum and dad. Poor little mite.
23/04/2013 at 14:44
Thats what I thought that you meant, but would just double check.
Poor little boy. At least G and K are safe x

What a great job you're doing.we're having similar space worries!is there any way you and h could squeeze in their room and they have yours if its any bigger?

We've got a sleep station bed for my daughter which partially blocks the window. Probably about a fifth of the window so not that much.
Your poor SD - what a thing to live with seeing things like that.
