Hi i'm really worrying about this. I will only get ??126 a week Mat pay for 9 months. (First 6 weeks @ 90% of wage).

My outgoings are just under ??800 a months... ??200 of that is transfered to my savings, as i am trying to put ??200 a month away until July, so i have money to fall back on. ??1,400 savings is nothing for a whole 9 months.

Hubby only come out with about ??800 and pays the rent and council tax etc. Family tax have stopped my money due to overpayment.

Assuming i will be able to make a fresh claim, but then again will probably end up owing again next year.

    Anyone else worried? x

I'm starting to panic a bit. Hubby covers the mortgage and bills, thank goodness. I'm self employed and don't make much so my maternity pay, if any, if going to be peanuts. What I make just now though covers food and nappies and any extras, clothes, going out etc.
We're definitly going to struggle and I'm going to really have to limit how much time I take off.
Really hoping I don't need a section because I really don't think we'll be able to afford the time off that would require.
Am trying to save as much as I can just now, but it is hard.

I was getting some money but this ends next week so im panicing about that. 3 kids and no job till LO starts school in 4 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Obvoously i can get an evening job just if need but rly, you will be fine. Somehow things change and yu will get used to it.

I do worry but rly, what will be will be and worrying wont change anyhing (im not be harsh, reminding myself lol)
Good to get on here tho and vent our worries. I always find that that helps.

    Hi g/c from baby.
My maternity pay drops after 6 months and I am going back after 8 months so got 2 months on crap money. we are going to take a holiday break from morgage and we have saved the tax credit backpay(only ??40 every 4 weeks which is the lowest amount for child tax credit, dont get working tax credit) from adding new baby and back dated pay from child benefit (its ??20 for eldest child and ??13.20 for any other children) and although this has only given us ??256 its better than nothing and will help with food bill. Also worth bearing in mind you may be entitled to the sure start maternity grant if you get tax credits at the higher than basic rate and you can claim this up to 3 months after baby is born, so once tax credits have been sorted and its ??500 unfortunatly we are 50p short a year, yes a year to get it but hey ho!

i am concerned as hubby is self employed and in debt so he is on a tight reign already with financies to get every debt paid off and i pay for the majority of bills, including food. also, when things have been taken out stat mat pay is actually more like ??108 a week so very scary in deed. that'sd why i am only having 5 months maternity leave

shiting myslef to be honest. I am just telling myself that it will work out. I am having my babay and won;t be at work for at least 6-9 months so I'll have to sort it even if it means calling up places and beggin for a payment break.

I can tell you that 11 years ago I managed with NO money and this time I have a job at least up until maternity leave and no maternity pay, only the maternity allowance. we will get by and so will you hun x
