A will only sleep for a length of time in the sling. This is the only way she stays asleep and we can carry on and make noise. She won't even sleep properly in her pram anymore, she'll fall asleep easily but any sudden noise and she's awake again and won't get back to sleep. She is the lightest sleeper and only sleeps at night because it's pitch black an. quiet! She is mostly happy when awake which is a change to how she used to be so that's one saving grace but I can't carry her in the sling all day nor can I protect her from all the noises. I know she wants sleep because she will sleep in the sling for as long as I let her which can be anything up to 4 hours. Do some babies just do this? Will she grow out of it? I don't know how I'll cope if she carries this on into toddler-dom! Nicky was the opposite, he would be a battle to get to sleep unless in the pram or cot but once asleep he would be out for the count for hours. I'm not used to a non-sleeper, especially one that is happy being awake (mostly).

Henry is a bad sleeper in the day unless in the sling, pram or car seat. I can maybe get 20 mins a time in a swing or moses but that's if I'm lucky

A is the same - 20 mins is a good nap here! She's been yawning away in her bouncer for half an hour now, smiling away at the hanging bird, no intention of going to sleep anytime soon.

He gets grouchy cos he's tired but won't sleep! If I pick him up cod he's whining and crying he can be asleep in 30 seconds, little bugger

I only ever did 30 minute naps until she started to walk and now does 2 hours so there is hope.

Missus A does that when she's overtired too and then as soon as I lay her down she's wide awake again!
VE not long to wait then

Disco did not nap for months unless out in the pram but he was not to grumpy in the day so was livable with. just after christmas so around the 6 month mark he got mobile (rolling following by crawling) and he now naps at least once a day usually twice.

M didn't ever nap at home. She'd sleep in the car and occasionally the pushchair. Night time she slept through from about 5 weeks so I can't complain.

This used to drive me bonkers! So from 12weeks I worked hard at establishing routine and teaching him to sleep through cycles, by 16weeks he was taking long naps and now has x2 1.5hr naps and sleeps 12/13hrs through the night

P naps for 20 mins at a time, generally. Most she has gone is an hour.

Oh dear so some really don't nap properly then. So how do you occupy them all day? I feel like she's getting ignored a lot when I've got lots to do.
Mcsquirtle I read a bit about sleep cycles and have tried to soothe her when she stirs but it doesn't always work. Maybe in time he will get better, I remember having to train N to have one long nap rather than shorter ones as he was driving me crazy but I don't have as much time for all that again.

Well I hope she walks soon. I didn't until she was 15 months so it was a long wait for a decent nap.
To amuse her we went out a lot, played ect just more of it than if she slept!
If this baby is the same am sure she will have to amuse herself a lot more.
