Smoked haddock and mash
  • 150g smoked undyed haddock, filleted
  • 150ml full-fat milk
  • 150g potato, cubed
  • 100g sweet potato, cubed
  • 1 whole small leek, very finely chopped
  • 10g unsalted butter
  • 30g cheddar cheese, grated

  • Step 1

Place the fish in a small saucepan. Pour over the milk. Bring to the boil, reduce the heat and then simmer, partly covered, for about 10 minutes until the fish is cooked.

  • Step 2

Remove the fish from the pan and mash it with a fork, removing any bones. Set the milk to one side.

  • Step 3

Cook the potatoes and leek for 15 minutes until tender. Drain and mash with some of the remaining milk, butter and cheese.

  • Step 4

    Stir in the flaked fish.
