When Girls star and creator Lena Dunham shared a photo of her friend breastfeeding her baby on Instagram, she had to cover up her friend’s nipple to comply with Instagram’s nudity rules – and she wasn't happy about it.

"Instagram, get down with the nipple!” she put on the picture’s caption, after writing, “My @sarahsophief feeding the brand new Dusty. I made the flower crown and she added the flower censor. Wish she didn’t have to cuz the nipple is dope."

Sarah Sophie, a director and performer with The Citizens Band, also shared the photo on her own Instagram, saying: “Photo by the talented @lenadunham. Flower censor by me, due to instagram's super-lame blocking of the breastfeeding ladies.”

It's not the first time celebs have caused a social-media storm by publicly sharing breastfeeding pics: back in April 2011, Victoria’s Secret model, Miranda Kerr, famously Tweeted a picture of herself breastfeeding her baby Flynn and was both praised and criticised for it.

And Modern Family’s Julie Bowen also shared a picture of her twin boys breastfeeding back in 2009, calling them her little “liposuction machines”.
