It wasn't long (just a few months) before Gaz started talking marriage.

In January 2017, he stunned Emma with a romantic gesture. He took over an entire beach just to proclaim his love for her.

Things died down in May 2017, when Emma accused Gaz of cheating on her and breaking up with her by text. Fortunately, it was just a spat, and the couple reconciled in June 2017.

Emma's pregnancy announcement

On 22 August 2017, Gaz revealed that Emma was pregnant with their 1st child!

"SO SO SO excited to eventually be able to tell you all this..." he wrote beside the announcement snaps.

Gaz prepares for fatherhood

The former Geordie Shore star's made no secret of his excitement for fatherhood - frequently posting pics of himself babysitting friends kids, and getting stuck into shopping for baby stuff.

He's also learning as he goes.

In one post, we see him trying to fit a car seat: "Haha shit is getting real... Baby seats are getting fitted... a lot harder than it looks ??"

We've seen him looking lost in the buggy shop, reading baby books, nappy-buying and picking out sweet little clothes. We've also seen him on dad duty at Emma's baby shower, ushering around a trolley of gifts...

Emma McVey's bump controversy

Throughout the pregnancy, both Gaz and Emma faced a slew of criticism over the size of Emma's bump.

Pictured here at 9 months, it goes without saying that slim Emma doesn't have the whopping pregnancy tum many of us did at the same stage...

Every bump is different, and just because a bump doesn't look how you think it should, doesn't mean we have the right to make judgements, or criticise.

There's a big difference between that and simply making curious comments, right?

Mostly, the naysayers were ignored. Now she's given birth, many, many Instagram commenters keen to slam Emma as 'a skeleton' and even question whether or not her baby was healthy have suddenly gone silent...

Chester Raymond Beadle McVey

On 15 January 2018, Gary and Emma's baby was born. They welcomed a baby boy, weighing 6b 2oz. His name has yet to be revealed.

"WOW what a feeling no words can describe it meet our son ???? he is perfect in every way and healthy weighing 6lbs 2 @emma_jane1392 is fine and did amazing..." Gaz posted on his Instagram.

"I am a dad can’t believe it... I cried I smiled I panicked but I will be there for him no matter what ?? xxx"

"No words can describe today," Emma continued on her own account. "We are so in love with you little man and you’re absolutely perfect! ???

"Very healthy 6lbs 2 with super long legs!" she added subtly.

We're not sure whether we'll be seeing an influx of cute baby pics, or getting to know the couple's name pick any time soon, but we do know that a newborn-grabbing-little-finger pic gets us every time!
