The best double prams, pushchairs and buggies of 2026, tried and tested by parents and their babies
Choosing a double buggy for a baby and toddler or for twins? Don’t buy anything until you check out our pick of side-by-side and tandem buggies...

Double prams aren’t just a must-have if you have twins. They can also be a brilliant option if you have a baby and a toddler, and many of the newer convertible designs are worth considering even with your first child if you want to future-proof your pushchair for a growing family.
Whether you want a narrow tandem that’s easier to steer through doorways, or a side-by-side that gives both children the same view, the best choice depends on your family set-up, your storage space and the terrain you use most. We’ve picked tried-and-tested options for a range of needs and budgets, from simple everyday strollers to premium single-to-double pushchairs that can adapt as your family grows.

How we chose and tested these pushchairs
When testing double pushchairs we consider comfort for both children and parents, weight, size, folded size, wheel type, folding mechanism, fabrications, longevity and whether they are worth the money.
Our lists are compiled by qualified and experienced parenting journalists. They rely on a number of sources, including our independent reviews, testing undertaken during the MadeForMums Awards, and feedback from our home testing panel and Top Testers Club. Each year thousands of products are put through their paces by hundreds of parents across the country on behalf of MadeForMums, to ensure we’re bringing you honest and true reviews and recommendations.
Our list is not an ordered ranking from 1-10, but a carefully selected group of tried-and-tested products, each of which is best for a different situation or requirement. We don’t just tell you what is best, we help you discover what is best for your family.

Why we chose it: This is the standout all-rounder here if you want a premium single-to-double pushchair that handles beautifully, adapts well for growing families and doesn’t feel clunky in single mode.
In comparison to other travel systems I’ve tested, the Vista V3 operates as both a single and double really, really well.
| Key Specs | UPPAbaby Vista V3 |
|---|---|
| Price | £1099 |
| Best for | Newborn and toddler(s) |
| Suitable for | Birth to 22kg (upper seat) / 3 months to 15kg (lower seat) |
| Can be used with carrycots | Yes |
| Travel system compatible | Yes |
| Weight | 16.4kg (with carrycot and Rumble Seat) |
| Dimensions unfolded | L92.7cm x W65.3cm x H100.3cm |
| Dimensions folded | L41.4cm x W65.3cm x H85.9cm (seat attached) |
| MFM Review Star Rating | 4.8 stars |
What we like
- Premium, sturdy build quality
- Easy to set up, fold and store
- Works for twins, a baby and toddler or even three children with the PiggyBack board
- Large basket with 13.6kg capacity
- Excellent handling across grass, pavement, cobbles and woodland paths
What to keep in mind
- Long in double formation
- Lower adapters can be fiddly
- Carrycot sits underneath in some double set-ups
- It’s a premium-priced buy
The Vista V3 keeps all the flexibility and durability that made the Vista V2 so popular, but still feels refined and easy to use. One of its biggest strengths is the seating set-up, with configurations that allow both children to face outwards while keeping the rear seat raised, helping avoid the “stacked” feel some tandems can have. It’s especially well suited to families with a newborn and older sibling who want a pushchair that can genuinely grow with them.

This page contains content provided by Squirrel. We ask for your permission before anything is loaded, as Squirrel may use cookies and other technologies. To view this content, choose 'Accept and continue' to allow Squirrel and its required purposes.

Why we chose it: It’s one of the lightest tandem options here, making it especially handy if you’re lifting it in and out of a car or storing it regularly.
I loved how lightweight this was, without feeling flimsy.
| Key Specs | Joie Evalite Duo |
|---|---|
| Price | £240 |

| Can be used with carrycots | No |

| Dimensions folded | L45cm x W56.5cm x H99cm |

| MFM Review Star Rating | 3.8 stars |
What we like
- Very lightweight at 11.24kg
- Compact fold
- Good value for money
- Seats recline independently
- Travel-system compatible
What to keep in mind
- Less capable on rough ground
- Long frame can make the front harder to see
- Not easy to steer one-handed
If you mainly stick to pavements and want something light, simple and affordable, the Evalite Duo is a strong contender. It feels less sturdy than some of the premium models, but for everyday short trips and school runs it offers a lot of practicality for the price.

Why we chose it: The Joie Estrella is a sturdy, fuss-free side-by-side double buggy that’s especially well suited to everyday family life, with an easy fold, roomy basket and a slim-enough frame for doorways, buses and trains.
It’s perfect for everyday use, even if it’s not the nippiest or most feature-laden pushchair.
| Key Specs | Joie Estrella |
|---|---|
| Price | £300 |
| Best for | Everyday use with baby and toddler |
| Suitable for | Birth to 22kg |
| Can be used with carrycots | No |
| Travel system compatible | No |
| Weight | 13.5kg |
| Seat direction | Forward-facing only |
| Independent recline | Yes |
| Storage basket | Deep underseat basket |
| Fold type | Easy compact fold |
| Included accessories | Rain cover |
| MFM Review Star Rating | 4.0 stars |
What we like
- Very easy to put together, fold and unfold
- Deep, practical storage basket
- No fiddly or fragile-feeling parts
- Fits through most doorways surprisingly well for a double
- Independent recline, calf supports and canopies for each seat
- Rain cover included
What to keep in mind
- Forward-facing seats only
- Can feel a little unwieldy to manoeuvre when fully loaded
- Harness may be too easy for some toddlers to unclip
- Not the best choice for rough rural terrain
- Reviewer didn’t feel it was the best fit for a newborn despite the from-birth claim
The Estrella is a simple, no-frills double buggy that does a solid job of making everyday outings with two children easier. Libby tested it with her 7-month-old and 2.5-year-old and found it especially useful for errands, dog walks, public transport and days out, thanks to its easy fold, roomy basket and deceptively slimline shape.
While suitable from birth, the buggy really comes into its own more once your youngest is a few months older, particularly because both seats are fixed forward-facing. Even so, if you want a reliable side-by-side double for suburban use and don’t need lots of complex configurations, this is a practical and sturdy choice.

The City Tour 2 Double is an absolute dream to fold.
| Key Specs | Baby Jogger City Tour 2 Double |
|---|---|
| Price | £509 |
| Best for | Compact side-by-side buggy |
| Suitable for | Birth to 15kg per seat |
| Can be used with carrycots | Yes |
| Travel system compatible | No |
| Weight | 10.5kg |
| Dimensions unfolded | L94.5cm x W66.5cm x H102.5cm |
| Dimensions folded | L63cm x W66.5cm x H25cm |
| Seating configurations | Multi |
| MFM Review Star Rating | 4.8 stars |
What we like
- Very compact fold
- Narrow width for a side-by-side
- Lightweight for a double at 10.5kg
- Easy to lift once folded
- Great on urban streets
What to keep in mind
- Not travel-system compatible
- Fixed handlebar height
- Narrow seats and small carrycots may be outgrown quickly
This is a smart buy for city living, public transport and smaller homes, where fold and footprint matter just as much as comfort. The compromise is that the narrow design also means less room in the seats and carrycots than some rivals.

What type of double pushchair do I need?
Tandem buggies are usually narrower because one child sits in front of the other, so they’re often easier to get through doorways. Many are single-to-double designs, which means you can use them as a single pushchair and add a second seat, carrycot or car seat when you need to. That flexibility makes them a particularly good fit for families with a baby and toddler, or anyone wanting to future-proof their first pram.
The trade-off is that tandems can be longer and sometimes feel heavier to steer, especially up and down kerbs or in front-loaded configurations.
Side-by-side buggies give both children the same view and often feel more balanced to push because the weight is distributed more evenly. They can work brilliantly for twins, but they’re also useful for siblings of different ages because most have independently reclining seats.
Although they’re wider, many modern side-by-side doubles are still narrow enough to fit through standard doorways. If you like the idea of both children sitting beside each other and want easier kerb handling, they’re well worth considering.
We’ve included both tandem and side-by-side options in our list, and you can read more on the pros and cons of each type of double buggy.
What should I look out for when buying a double pushchair?
Does it work from birth?
If you’re using your double pushchair for a newborn, make sure there’s a genuinely lie-flat option, whether that’s a carrycot or a seat that reclines completely flat. Some “lie-flat” seats still sit at a slight angle.
Is it a travel system?
If you drive regularly, it may be worth looking for a frame that can take infant car seats. This is more common with tandems, though adapters are often sold separately and compatibility varies.
What configurations are there?
Some tandems offer lots of seating combinations, which can make a big difference if you’re using the buggy for children of different ages. Think about where your newborn will sit, whether you want parent-facing options and how easy it is to swap set-ups.
How much does it weigh?
Double buggies are rarely light, but weight still matters if you’ll be lifting it into a car boot, carrying it up steps or folding it frequently.
How wide or long is it?
Width is key with side-by-sides and length is key with tandems. Measure narrow doorways, hallways, porches and your boot before you buy.
How long will it last?
Check the weight limits for each seat and consider your children’s size as well as their age. Some buggies will suit older or taller children better than others.
What’s the storage like?
A generous basket is especially helpful when you’re out with two children, but access can vary depending on the configuration.
What accessories are included?
Rain covers, footmuffs, mosquito nets and carrycots can quickly add to the overall cost, so it’s worth checking what’s included as standard.
How does it fold?
If you’re managing two little ones, an easy fold can be a lifesaver. Some models fold one-handed, some need both hands and some are more compact with the seats removed.
How much does a double pushchair cost?
One of the biggest factors in choosing a double buggy is cost. Prices vary hugely, from budget strollers to premium single-to-double systems, but buying from a well-known brand can help with long-term durability and resale value.
A MadeForMums survey found that 81% of parents spent between £100 and £999 on a double buggy. A quarter of those surveyed purchased one for between £100 and £299, with only 6% spending over £1,000.
