Best running buggies 2026: tried and tested jogging pushchairs for parents
We've tested the best running pushchairs to help you find the perfect one for your lifestyle — from lightweight city joggers to all-terrain buggies

Whether you're a seasoned runner or just want to jog around your local park, a jogging buggy makes it much easier to exercise with your little one in tow.
Unlike standard pushchairs or lightweight strollers, jogging buggies are designed for speed and stability, with 3 wheels, air-filled tyres, stronger suspension and added safety features such as hand brakes and wrist straps. The trade-off is that they’re usually bulkier than everyday buggies.
They’re not only for runners, though. Many double as excellent all-terrain pushchairs for family walks, and some can be used from birth with a carrycot or newborn insert. Just wait until your baby is at least 6 months old before running with them.

Why we chose it: The Thule Glide 3 is a premium specialist running buggy that feels stable, smooth and confidence-inspiring at speed.
I would recommend the Thule Glide 3 for serious runners who want a dedicated jogging pushchair and have space at home for another buggy for everyday use.
What we like
- Lightweight yet sturdy build
- Very smooth and stable when jogging
- Wrist strap and handlebar brake add reassurance
- One-handed fold once you know how
- Excellent on rougher terrain and longer runs
What to keep in mind
- Expensive
- Instructions could be clearer
- Bulky for storage and awkward in smaller car boots
- Fixed front wheel makes everyday manoeuvring harder
The Thule Glide 3 is built for sporty parents who want a true jogging pushchair rather than an all-rounder that can also run. Its fixed front wheel, advanced suspension and large air-filled tyres make it feel planted and efficient at speed, especially on longer runs and rougher terrain.
It feels particularly well suited to longer runs and rougher terrain, with a smooth, stable ride, but the fixed front wheel and bulky fold make it less practical for daily errands.

Why we chose it: The CYBEX Avi Spin delivers a smooth, stable ride on rougher ground while still feeling smart enough for daily life.
I’d recommend the CYBEX Avi Spin to active parents who want a stylish, smooth pushchair for outdoor runs and day-to-day errands. This pushchair is best suited to active and outdoorsy lifestyles, perfect for parents who split their time doing park runs and family walks. Its biggest strength is its smooth, stable ride over bumps and kerbs, paired with a quick, super-easy fold.
What we like
- Great suspension and grip on grass, gravel and woodland paths
- Easy fold and unfold
- Large zipped basket
- Easy-to-lock front wheel
- Reflective details for low-light visibility
What to keep in mind
- No bumper bar
- Still wide and bulky compared with a standard stroller
- Not the easiest to check on baby when the hood is up
The Avi Spin is a strong choice for parents who want a stylish running pushchair that can handle daily errands too. It feels particularly well suited to park runs, family walks and mixed terrain, and the lie-flat seat means you can start using it before your baby is old enough to jog.

Why we chose it: This is one of the most affordable ways to get a buggy that works for newborn use, everyday walks and jogging later on.
This buggy is a very affordable option, even as a standalone running or everyday-use buggy. If you are planning on running with your little one, it really is a great product that means you avoid having to spend twice and have two separate products for different purposes.
What we like
- Budget-friendly for a jogging buggy bundle
- Works well as both an all-terrain everyday stroller and jogger
- Adjustable handle suits a range of heights
- Easy to assemble and folds down well
- Replacement parts are easy to source
What to keep in mind
- Bulky to store and takes up a lot of boot space
- No shoulder strap for carrying when folded
- Newborn carrycot is less robust than some premium rivals and fiddlier to attach
- May feel short in the seat base for taller children
The Ickle Bubba Venus Jogger Pro Prime is a strong choice for families who want one buggy that can handle everyday walks as well as runs, without the price tag of more premium rivals.
It feels particularly well suited to active family life thanks to its all-terrain design and newborn-ready bundle, although its bulkier frame and less polished carrycot mean it won’t be the best fit for everyone.

- Large covered basket and useful extra storage
- Water bottle holder included
- Hand brake, wrist strap and reflective details add reassurance
What to keep in mind
- Heavy

Why we chose it: The Thule Urban Glide 3 strikes the best balance between high-performance jogging features and everyday practicality.
Our little passenger was always comfortable and happy and the well-designed and very well-built features have withstood walks in forests, fields and on rocky mountain paths. This pushchair is perfect for parents who want to get outdoors, running or walking, and take their little one with them.
What we like
- Very smooth ride over all kinds of terrain
- Light to push and easy to manoeuvre
- Easy one-handed fold
- Integrated twist hand brake and reflective detailing for safer low-light use
- Large basket and adjustable handlebar make it practical day to day
What to keep in mind
- Still large when folded
- Expensive
The Thule Urban Glide 3 is one of the most popular jogging pushchairs around, and for good reason. It’s sleek, sturdy and thoughtfully designed, with the kind of features that make it just as useful on a family day out as it is on a run.
Its lockable swivel front wheel is what makes it such a strong all-rounder. You get stability when jogging, but better manoeuvrability than a fixed-wheel running buggy when weaving through shops, park paths or tighter spaces. For parents who only want one pushchair, that versatility is hard to beat.

Why we chose it: Running-friendly double buggies are hard to come by, and this one offers a rare mix of practicality, comfort and performance.
What we like
- Easy to push for a double
- Relatively lightweight
- Quick-release wheels
- Useful extras included
- Hidden zipped canopy storage is handy for keys and a phone
What to keep in mind
- Large footprint
- Premium price for a double buggy
The Out’n’About Nipper Double has built a strong reputation over the years as one of the most reliable double running buggies available, and in our experience testing different versions of the Nipper range, including the Nipper Double V5, it consistently delivers on durability, stability and all-terrain performance.
Despite being a side-by-side double, it’s relatively lightweight and easy to push, with large 16-inch air-filled tyres, rear suspension and a handlebar brake to help keep things controlled on faster runs or uneven ground. It is quite wide for everyday errands, but if your priority is a dependable double buggy for park runs, trails and countryside walks, it remains one of the strongest options available.

What is a jogging buggy?
A jogging buggy is a pushchair you can safely run with. Most standard pushchairs and lightweight strollers aren’t built for this because they don’t have the right suspension, wheel setup or stability for moving at speed over uneven ground.
What features does a jogging buggy have?
Most jogging buggies have 3 wheels, with 2 larger wheels at the back and a smaller front wheel. The front wheel is often fixed or lockable for extra stability while running. Other useful features include:
- a 5-point harness
- a wrist strap
- a hand-operated brake
- larger air-filled or all-terrain tyres
- stronger suspension
Many also overlap with all-terrain buggies, so some models can work well for countryside walks and everyday family adventures too.
When is it safe to start running with a stroller?
Your baby should be at least 6 months old before you go jogging with them in a pushchair. Some experts recommend waiting until 8 or 9 months. That’s because your child needs to have enough head and neck control to cope with the movement and bumps involved in running.
