How we chose and tested these pushchairs

When testing pushchairs, we consider comfort for both child and parent, weight, size, folded size, wheel type, folding mechanism, fabrications, longevity and whether they are worth the money.

Our best-buy lists are compiled by qualified and experienced parenting journalists using a range of sources, including our independent reviews, testing undertaken during the MadeForMums Awards, and feedback from our home testing panel and Top Testers Club. Each year, thousands of products are put through their paces by hundreds of parents across the country on behalf of MadeForMums, helping us bring you honest, practical recommendations.

This is not a ranked list from 1 to 10. Instead, each buggy here has been chosen because it stands out for a different situation, lifestyle or requirement, so you can find the one that best suits your family.

Best lightweight buggies tried and tested for 2026

Stokke YOYO3, £399

Best for: Travel with a newborn

Stokke YOYO3 tester picture and product shot

Why we chose it: The YOYO3 remains one of the most compact and travel-friendly lightweight buggies around, with newborn options, a tiny fold and impressively nimble handling.

The Stokke YOYO³ pushchair and 0+ newborn pack have become my go-to pram for my two-month-old son. It’s so small and lightweight that I’m confident taking it anywhere – whether that’s a high street, public transport in rush hour, or on a long walk with lots of hills!
MFM reviewer Daisy, who tested the Stokke YOYO3 with her 2-month-old son

What we like

  • Newborn options available, including one that folds
  • Super manoeuvrable in busy spaces
  • Premium, stylish materials
  • Cabin-approved size when folded
  • Improved suspension, harness buckle and ventilation window
  • Basket capacity has doubled to 10kg

What to keep in mind

  • The fold is fiddly and takes practice
  • You need to buy the 0+ newborn pack separately to use it from birth
Key SpecsStokke YOYO3
RRP£399
Age suitabilityBirth (with newborn pack or bassinet) to 22kg (approx. 4 years old)

Folded dimensionsH44cm x W18cm x L52cm (cabin approved)
Weight6.1kg
Car seat compatible?Yes
MFM Review star rating4.4 stars

The launch of the original YOYO changed the lightweight pushchair market, and this third version still delivers the same small fold and travel-friendly design that made it so popular. It’s especially useful for parents who want a buggy that works in tight shops, on public transport and on family trips, without feeling flimsy to push.

That said, while the fold is impressively compact — and can even be done with the newborn pack attached — it’s less intuitive than many rivals here. Once you’ve mastered it, though, it folds into a very neat, light package that’s ideal for travel.

Reviewer Daisy found it especially easy to steer in crowded spaces: "The wheels offer a smooth ride, and I don’t feel like I need to be monitoring the pavement to steer around any potential bumps in the road (literally), as the pram can easily handle them."

You can also add a wide range of accessories, from a roll-along bag (£75) to a buggy board (£91.67). If you want to use it from birth, you can also add the newborn pack (£195), which fastens over the flattened seat base.

Silver Cross Clic 2, £295

Best for: Travel with a toddler

Silver Cross Clic 2 tester image and product shot

Why we chose it: The Clic 2 is light, compact and especially easy to fold and carry, making it a handy option for holidays, weekends away and everyday city use with a toddler.

I'm a huge fan of the Silver Cross Clic 2. It’s incredibly light, incredibly compact, and very easy to push. For holidays or weekend trips, it’s perfect. Opening and closing it is quick and easy, and my baby seemed happy in it for long periods of time.
MFM reviewer Lucy, who tested the pushchair with her 8-month-old son

What we like

  • Ultra-compact fold
  • One-handed, one-second fold
  • Very easy to steer on smooth surfaces
  • Lie-flat recline
  • Shoulder strap and travel bag included

What to keep in mind

  • No parent-facing option or travel system compatibility
  • Storage basket is small
  • Less sturdy on rougher terrain

Folded dimensionsL54cm x W46.5cm x H25cm

MFM review star rating4.4 stars

Silver Cross has long been known for lightweight strollers, but the Clic 2 feels like a more modern, more compact take on the category. It’s lighter than the older Pop stroller, folds much smaller and is packed with practical touches that make it especially useful for travel and day-to-day outings.

Its biggest strength is the fold. Activated by pressing a button, it collapses quickly into a compact, freestanding shape, and the included shoulder strap makes it easier to carry than many rivals.

It’s best suited to smooth pavements, city breaks and family trips rather than rougher terrain. Reviewer Lucy found it especially easy to push on urban surfaces, saying: "the pushchair moves so easily and feels light as a feather... On smooth terrain it glides without hardly touching it. For a travel buggy, the suspension felt very good. It performs well on tarmac or even short grass but struggles on gravel tracks and cobbles."

Joolz Aer2, £439

Best for: Longevity

Joolz Aer2 pushchair tester picture and product shot

Why we chose it: The Aer2 combines a newborn-friendly lie-flat seat, durable build, smooth handling and a long transferable warranty, making it a strong choice for families wanting one buggy to last.

I was very impressed by the sleek styling, easy manoeuvrability and incredibly smooth fold of the Joolz Aer2. Robust enough for everyday use and small enough for long-haul travel, I would recommend the Joolz Aer2 to parents looking for a lightweight, compact stroller that will take them through from baby to toddler.
MFM reviewer Ellen, who tested the Joolz Aer2 with her newborn baby and 3 year old

What we like

  • Smooth one-handed fold
  • Shoulder strap included
  • Extendable canopy
  • Folding carrycot option
  • Sustainably made
  • Car seat compatible
  • 10-year transferable warranty

What to keep in mind

  • It’s pricey
  • Forward-facing only unless using carrycot or infant car seat

MFM review star rating4.7 stars

The Joolz Aer2 builds on the Aer+ with a lie-flat ergonomic seat, compact fold and stylish finish, while adding features that make it even more versatile for everyday family life. It’s suitable from birth, or you can add a carrycot for £229 or use an infant car seat with adaptors for £44.95.

One of its standout features is longevity. As well as being suitable through to 22kg, it also comes with a generous warranty. If you register your Aer+ online within 6 months of purchase, you receive a 10-year transferable warranty, which adds to its appeal if you’re planning to keep it for years or pass it on.

It’s also impressive to push for such a compact buggy. Reviewer Ellen found it easy to steer one-handed in busy places and said it handled more varied ground better than expected: "I was able to steer it one-handed on busy streets and up and down kerbs. It is a breeze to get on and off buses, and the four-wheel suspension ensures the rider does so in comfort. I was pleasantly surprised by how smoothly it rolled over grass during trips to the park. Even the sand strewn paths in the playground posed no problem for this stroller."

Cybex Libelle, £269.95

Best for: Frequent flyers

A collage showing a boy in the Cybex Libelle with a woman behind it, next to a studio shot of the same pushchair

Why we chose it: With one of the smallest folds in this round-up and a very light frame, the Libelle is especially well suited to flights, overhead lockers and car boots.

A fashionable, slick buggy for city life and travelling. While not the cheapest on the market, it is good value, modern and durable, likely to last many years.
MFM reviewer Sarah, who tested the Libelle with her 9-month-old son

What we like

  • Extremely compact fold
  • Freestanding when folded
  • Very light at 5.9kg
  • Easy to unfold one-handed
  • Front-wheel suspension adds comfort

What to keep in mind

  • Only suitable from birth with a car seat
  • Not ideal for one-handed pushing

Folded dimensionsW32cm x H20cm x L48cm (cabin approved)

MFM Review star rating4.1 stars

The Cybex Libelle is one of the lightest buggies on this list and one of the most compact once folded, measuring 32cm x 20cm x 48cm. Its clever fold design draws the wheels inward to create a very small package that’s ideal for air travel and stashing in tight spaces.

Parent tester Pooja loved just how tiny it became, saying: "In 3 simple movements, it is the size of a large backpack." Sarah also felt the compact fold was one of its biggest strengths, describing it as small enough to justify the price.

Despite the tiny fold, it still feels reassuringly stable for a travel buggy. It offers decent padding, an adjustable leg rest and an "infinite" recline, making it comfortable for older babies and toddlers. It can also be used as a travel system with car seat adaptors (£44.95).

Graco Myavo, £130

Best for: Budget-friendly everyday use

Graco Myavo tester picture and product image

Why we chose it: The Myavo offers a low price, easy one-handed fold and better handling than you might expect, making it a strong value choice for everyday use.

I loved its intuitive, quick and easy one-handed fold, incredibly spacious basket and the design of the seat unit. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that a more pricey compact-folding buggy would, but it's a great day-to-day lightweight option that ticks most of the boxes for a basic buggy.
MFM reviewer Steph, who tested the Graco Myavo with her 1-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son

What we like

  • One-handed fold
  • Excellent value
  • Good manoeuvrability
  • Large basket for a compact stroller
  • Versatile seat positioning
  • Good for taller children
  • Lie-flat recline

What to keep in mind

  • Body copy says it is not suitable from newborn despite the stated age range starting from birth
  • No parent-facing option
  • Not the sturdiest option here
  • Harness fastening is fiddly
  • No breathable mesh ventilation panel
Key SpecsGraco Myavo

MFM Review star rating4.2 stars

If you want a lightweight buggy without spending hundreds, the Graco Myavo stands out as a practical, affordable option. It’s the lightest buggy in this guide at 5.8kg, folds down quite compactly and still includes useful extras such as a bumper bar, rain cover, calf rest and a generous basket.

The fold is one of its best features. Reviewer Steph praised how intuitive and easy it was to collapse one-handed, even while holding a baby, and also found it surprisingly smooth to push for such a lightweight stroller: "pushing the stroller is effortless. It feels as sturdy and smooth as a larger, more premium pushchair, despite being compact and lightweight."

Why we chose it: This is a stylish, compact lightweight buggy with recycled fabrics, good comfort and easy handling, making it a strong choice for parents who want sustainability alongside day-to-day practicality.

The Baby Jogger City Tour 2 Eco stands out most for its compactness, ease of use and impressive comfort. The eco fabrics and stylish design are welcome bonuses. If you’re looking for a smart, travel-friendly, everyday pram then this one certainly hits the mark.

  • Ultra-compact fold
  • Adjustable calf support
  • Large UV50+ canopy
  • Stable ride
  • Sleek, modern design

If eco credentials matter to you, the City Tour 2 Eco offers a more sustainable take on a compact everyday buggy without losing the practical features that made the original popular. The recycled fabrics add a more premium feel, and Francesca found them soft to the touch as well as stylish.

It’s slim and easy to guide through busy urban spaces, and its flat, compact fold makes it easy to store in a hallway or car boot. The roomy seat and adjustable calf support also make it a good option for taller babies and toddlers.

Reviewer Francesca concluded that it is "a nimble pram that’s super travel-friendly and stylish, delivering everyday usability for newborns and toddlers in town and suburbs - with a few trade-offs in terms of storage and terrain handling."

It also comes with useful extras including a rain cover, bumper bar, large shopping basket and pop-out sun visor.

Reviewer Halina found the seat especially roomy compared with other lightweight strollers, and also praised the push. It handled town pavements, kerbs and even light off-road surfaces better than expected for such a compact buggy: "The Aries is so easy to push and steer; it felt light and easy to push with just one hand, and I had no problems with it at all along pavements and in town. It was also easy to push up kerbs and navigate through narrow spaces, as well as over grass and even pebbles."

Cybex Orfeo, £299.95

Best for: Urban travel

Cybex Orfeo tester picture and product shot

Why we chose it: Compact, sturdy and easy to steer through busy streets and public transport, the Orfeo is especially well suited to city living.

We took it on the train, tube and bus, and it worked fantastically. It feels sturdy enough to mount the tube and dreaded overground gap without lifting, and I even managed to take it on an escalator. In theory, you could fold up the pushchair and carry your baby or toddler separately very easily too, though the frame is so slim it’s easy enough to keep it erect in a busy carriage.
MFM reviewer Allie, who tested the Orfeo with her 5-month-old baby

What we like

  • Ultra-compact fold
  • No assembly required
  • Ergonomic design
  • Lie-flat seat suitable from birth
  • Integrated carry strap
  • Strong, durable chassis

What to keep in mind

  • Basket is small
  • Handlebar height is not adjustable

If you regularly use public transport or navigate busy streets, the Cybex Orfeo is a very practical compact stroller. It’s easy to carry, slim enough for tighter spaces and sturdy enough to cope with the bumps and scrapes of city life.

Allie found it smoother to push than expected, especially compared with some other travel strollers. The lie-flat recline, one-pull harness and adjustable leg rest also make it a more versatile option than some lightweight buggies aimed purely at older babies.

You can also add car seat adaptors (£44.95) if you want to use it with an infant carrier.

Joie Signature Tourist, £175

Best for: Use with a car seat

Joie Signature Tourist tested with a baby and as a travel system

Why we chose it: The Tourist offers flexible travel-system functionality in a lightweight frame, making it a good middle ground for families who want something lighter than a full pram.

It’s great value, lightweight, folds easily and offers a travel system function. It is perfect for those families who are struggling to decide between a big travel system pram or a lightweight holiday friendly option, with the Tourist offering a happy medium for both, at a reasonable price.
MFM reviewer Jen, who tested the pushchair with her 6-month-old son and 3-year-old daughter

What we like

  • Works well as a travel system
  • Premium feel at a competitive price
  • Magnetic harness buckle
  • Adjustable calf support
  • Hands-free magic fold

What to keep in mind

  • Canopy does not provide full shade when upright
  • Doesn’t fit cabin luggage dimensions
  • Seat lie-flat may not feel fully flat enough for some newborns

MFM review star rating4.2 stars

The Joie Signature Tourist is a smart choice if you want some of the flexibility of a larger travel system without the bulk. It can take Joie’s infant carriers or the brand’s Ramble carrycot, and unlike some lightweight strollers, the seat fabric can be removed first so the setup looks neater and more pram-like.

Reviewer Jen found this especially appealing for families who want one buggy that can bridge the gap between a newborn setup and a lighter everyday stroller. She also praised the hands-free fold, which creates a freestanding package that’s easy to carry or store away.

Although it’s named the Tourist, it doesn’t fold quite small enough for cabin luggage, so it’s better thought of as a travel-friendly buggy rather than a true overhead-locker option.

If you want to use it from birth with the carrycot, see the Joie Ramble carrycot (£150).

Maxi-Cosi Lara 2, £189.99

Best for: Extra storage

Maxi-Cosi Lara 2 lightweight pushchair

Why we chose it: The Lara 2 offers a clever extra storage basket under the seat, making it a handy option for parents who want more carrying space without moving up to a bulkier pushchair.

  • Additional under-seat storage basket
  • Double wheels for a smoother ride
  • Carry strap
  • Easy one-touch fold
  • Compatible with Maxi-Cosi infant carriers

What to keep in mind

  • No carrycot option
  • Fold is slightly larger than some rivals

Storage is often one of the main compromises with a lightweight buggy, but the Maxi-Cosi Lara 2 gets around that with an extra basket directly underneath the seat. It’s not huge, but it’s useful for keeping essentials like your phone or wallet within easy reach.

Alongside that clever design, it also offers a carry strap, bumper bar, double wheels for a little extra stability on slightly uneven ground, and a one-touch fold that collapses to a relatively compact size. Maxi-Cosi says it may meet cabin baggage requirements for some airlines, though it’s worth checking before flying as it is a little deeper than some of the most compact options here.

What to consider before you buy a lightweight buggy

Age suitability

Many manufacturers advertise their strollers as suitable from birth because they have lie-flat seats. However, some seats marketed this way do not actually lie completely flat, so it’s worth checking exactly how flat the seat is and how much head support it offers if you want to use it with a newborn. A compatible carrycot or bassinet may be a better option if you want the ideal lie-flat position for a young baby.

Parent-facing or world-facing seat positions

Most lightweight buggies are world-facing only, unlike larger pushchairs where the seat can often face either way. Think about what matters most to you and your child, although many toddlers are perfectly happy facing outwards once they want to see more of the world around them.

Terrain suitability

Lightweight buggies tend to have smaller wheels, which makes them better suited to pavements, flat paths and city use. Many can still handle grass and easier footpaths, but if you need something for rougher ground or longer countryside walks, an all-terrain pushchair may be a better fit.

Sun and rain covers

Look closely at the size and coverage of the hood. On some lightweight strollers, canopies can feel quite minimal and may not provide enough protection from low sun. Features like extendable canopies and built-in UV protection are useful, but you may also want to budget for a sun shade, cover or parasol. It’s also worth checking whether a rain cover is included.

Recline

A multi-position recline can make a big difference when your baby or toddler falls asleep on the go. On many lightweight buggies, this is controlled with a strap and buckle rather than a click mechanism, so check which style you prefer.

Adjustable calf support or footrest

An adjustable calf rest can make naps and longer outings more comfortable, especially for toddlers with longer legs. Not all lightweight buggies include one.

Shopping basket and storage

Storage is often limited on compact strollers, so check basket size carefully if you plan to use it for shopping or carrying day-to-day essentials. Some models include extra pockets or add-on storage, which can be useful.

Price

As with most buggies, more money usually gets you more features, a smaller fold or better long-term durability. Budget options can still perform well, but they may not be as sturdy or as travel-friendly as pricier rivals. Most lightweight buggies sit in the £200 to £400 range.

How we tested and chose these lightweight buggies

When testing lightweight buggies, we look at comfort for both child and parent, weight, folded size, wheel type, folding mechanism, materials, longevity and overall value for money.

Our recommendations are based on a mix of MadeForMums reviews, Awards testing, home testing and feedback from our Top Testers Club. Rather than ranking these buggies from first to last, we’ve selected standout models for different family needs, budgets and lifestyles.
