It’s an exciting time to be Binky Felstead ?

The 26-year-old mum-to-be’s just a few weeks away from her welcoming her 1st baby, she’s just been whisked off on a babymoon getaway with boyfriend Josh ‘JP’ Patterson, and soon the couple will be starring in their own reality series following their journey to parenthood.

And while all has been rosy for the pregnant star to date: “Luckily, touch wood, I’ve been pretty good so far. I didn’t have any of the sickness.”

She does admit that there is one thing that really worries her about becoming a first-time mum.

“I don’t really know what to expect – I get panicky about the littlest things, so I’ll be thinking ‘oh gosh, is this normal? Is this supposed to be happening?’” she tells us.

More like this

“It’s just that constant fear when you’ve got someone so precious to look after… [I’ll] be on tenterhooks the whole time.

“I’ve only ever looked after myself, and now [there’s] something so much bigger. It’s quite scary, actually.”

? Obvs, we’ve so been there.

Surely this has to be one of THE biggest worries for any first time parent? Not knowing what’s considered a red flag, and being on constant lookout for anything unusual is undeniably stressful.

Interestingly, fitness nut Binky’s also revealed another common mum-to-be worry – one that might surprise you.

Even she’s pondered the age-old question of whether or not exercising during pregnancy is safe, despite being known for sharing maternity workout vids on Instagram.

Understandably so, too. You end up wondering: what’s safe to do? What’s not so safe to try? Can you start exercising if you’re a complete newbie? What works for each trimester? It’s safe to say the whole thing’s a bit of a minefield.

“When I posted a [workout video], I got a lot of women writing back saying ‘I didn’t know you could do that’, a lot of confusion, a few comments saying ‘You can’t do that’,” she says of the criticism she faced.

“When I first found out I was pregnant, I didn’t know if it was safe either,” she reveals. “Even my mum last had a baby 27 years ago, so she didn’t know too.”

But there was one piece of pro advice that dispelled those myths for her:

“They say in your 1st trimester, you should be able to exercise but still hold a conversation with someone, so you’re not out of breath, or going too hard.”

(And yes, just to be clear, exercise during pregnancy is safe and even good for you as long as you’ve been exercising before your pregnancy, and you stick to the sports and activities you’re familiar with, and know are A-OK to do. Of course, you should always keep your GP or midwife up to speed before heading off to the gym.)

Now that Binky’s pushing the end of her 3rd trimester, though, exercise isn’t at the forefront of her mind - becoming a mum is.

“I do stretching, swimming’s quite good… but I’m quite tired now, and having to take a lot of chill time on the sofa.

“I’m really excited, though… hoping for a lovely arrival… and yeah, just can’t wait to meet her.”
