Tip 1: Swap foundation for tinted moisturiser

There's no point in layering on thick foundation that doesn't allow your skin to breathe when you get hot and bothered. Tinted moisturiser is lightweight and while it gives your face an even complexion, it also hydrates the skin where foundation doesn't.

Plus, it's barely visible when you apply, which means it'll take minimum time up in your morning routine. It also provides your face with SPF 15, giving you one less thing to worry about.

Tip 2: Give yourself some colour

Giving just a hint of colour to the cheekbones is a great way to keep your face looking healthy and flushed, without looking 'over-done'.

The tint blends into the skin with one easy sweep, which you can use your fingers to apply and stays put all day long. The key is to rub into the apple of your cheeks for a more natural look. Low maintenance yet effective.

Try this: Benetint cheek tint, £24.50, by Benefit cosmetics, available at House of Fraser.

Tip 3: Reduce your busy shine

Whether you're rushing around doing errands or running after your little one, you're bound to break out in a sweat! Your make-up needn't suffer though, because with a pea shaped blob of shine free base, your make-up will stay looking matte and fresh all day long.

Simply apply this evenly around the face before you put your finishing touches on.

Tip 4: Keep your lashes waterproofed

If you're always on the go, chances are you'll rub your eyes without even thinking about it. To stop any smudges or clumping, the secret is to use waterproof mascara. It'll stay on for longer, is completely smudge free and is immune to heat and rubbing.

Mascara also enhances the lashes, making yours look more curved and longer without any extra effort. Everyone's a winner.

Try this: Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express waterproof mascara, £7.19, available at Boots.

Tip 5: Don't forget your eyebrows

Define your face with a quick and easy stroke of an eyebrow pencil. Stick to lighter shades of brown if you're a blonde, and go slightly darker if you're a brunette.

Filling in mishapen brows can make a whole lot of difference - just take it easy when applying!

Try this: 2true eyebrow pencil with brusher, £1.99, available at Superdrug.

Tip 6: Tint your lips

Not everyone likes to wear lipstick on a daily basis, but with a simple dab of colour, it can brighten up your complexion in a jiffy.

You needn't go too daring or dark - stick to natural shades such as pale pinks, coral hues and rose tint which compliment every skin tone.

Save time too by choosing a lightweight lipstick that's also a gloss.
