It’s easy to construct (it took minutes), and even folds away when you don’t need it – a great feature for the smaller garden). It offers a good sized slide at a great price which can be enjoyed by young toddlers but can still be used by kids well into their early school years.
Sizzlin’ Cool Bouncer with Air Blower, £149.99
This really clever and extremely well-constructed bouncer is big enough for at least three youngsters to enjoy safely – it’s surrounded by netting – and has a slide for entering and exiting. It takes minutes to peg the device to the ground and connect the surprisingly heavy-duty (but quiet) motor that keeps the castle bouncing. Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Smart Stages Mower, £14.99
The great thing about this lawn mower is that it doesn’t even require any grass – it works just as well on a patio or in the kitchen as it does on the lawn. As with all products from the brilliant Fisher Price, this is a heavy-duty plastic toy that is both fun and helps your child to learn. With five different settings and three different learning levels, the mover sings and counts as your toddler pushes it around. Yes, the songs do get stuck in your head too – but some of them are quite fun!

Chad Valley 6ft trampoline and enclosure, £79.99
Compact, safe and fun, this trampoline is a great way to inject a little bounce into your garden without breaking the bank. At 6 feet wide, the tramp is at the smaller end of the market which makes it perfect for those (like me) with limited space to play with. Sturdy and surrounded by a clever netting system with the support poles on the outside, you can allow your youngsters to play for hours on this toy in the confidence that they will have fun and come to no harm. It did take several hours for me to assemble, but it was well worth the wait and has already survived one winter in my garden looking good as new!
