Sweet Fish and Fruit Curry for babies

  • 4

A creamy super quick fish curry with just the right amount of sweetness and spice to tickle little taste buds without overwhelming them

  • 1 sweet apple – peeled, cored, cubed
  • 1 ripe pear – peeled, cored, cubed
  • 1 banana – peeled, sliced
  • 2 tbsp plain unsweetened yogurt
  • 150ml (5fl oz) of whole milk
  • 1⁄4 tsp minced ginger
  • 1⁄4 tsp minced garlic
  • 1⁄4 tsp ground cumin
  • 1⁄4 tsp ground coriander
  • Pinch of ground black pepper
  • Pinch of ground turmeric
  • 1 x 100g (31⁄2oz) white fish fillet (skinless, boneless) – cut into 1” chunks

  • Step 1

Place the fruit, yogurt, milk, ginger, garlic and spices (cumin, coriander, black pepper and turmeric), into a blender and blend until smooth.

  • Step 2

Pour the fruity mixture into a pot, bring to the boil and simmer (uncovered) on low heat for 5mins to ensure all the spices are cooked through, stirring occasionally.

  • Step 3

Add the fish chunks to the sauce and continue to simmer for a further 5-6mins, until the fish is flaky and breaks apart easily.

  • Step 4

Serve with plain overcooked rice. Blend for very young babies if they’re eating purees, or chop up the fish chunks to small pieces if they’re eating lumps.

  • This curry is protein-rich and packed with fruity SuperFood goodness of the apple, pear and banana.
  • These fruits are antioxidant and high in fibre, keeping little bowels healthy by preventing constipation.
