Fruit kebabs

Makes 4 portions. Suitable for 12 months+

4 bamboo sticks

1 kiwi fruit, peeled

1 banana, peeled

8 strawberries, hulled and washed

15ml orange juice

15ml clear honey (not suitable for children under 12 months) or maple syrup

A pinch of ground cinnamon

Method

  • Step 1

         Soak the bamboo skewers in water – this stops them burning. Cut the kiwi in half, then each half into four to make 8 pieces. Thickly slice the banana into 8. Mix the orange juice, honey or syrup and cinnamon together in a bowl. Add the fruit and toss well to coat.

  • Step 2

         Preheat the grill to high. Thread the fruit onto the soaked skewers then place on the grill rack. Grill for 3-4 minutes, turning once or twice until lightly caramelised. Remove the fruit from the sticks and serve. Do not give your child the fruit on sticks for safety reasons.

Why not experiment with different fruits like pineapple, mango or blackberries?
